CANDIDATES FOR THE 2020 CARL FRICKS SPORTSMANSHIP SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCED

The St. Louis Sports Commission will award $30,000 in scholarship money – including a $15,000 top prize through its Carl Fricks Sportsmanship Scholarship later this month. Awards will go to deserving St. Louis area high school seniors who exhibit outstanding sportsmanship on the field of play.

While the Carl Fricks Sportsmanship Scholarship Committee will meet this month to determine the actual award recipients, we want to take this time and space to recognize the 42 St. Louis area young people who have made sportsmanship a priority in their lives. The Class of 2020 has had their proms and graduations canceled. They face uncertain days as many decisions are being made without their input and beyond their control.

Nevertheless, we admire their strength and perseverance. No matter what the committee’s final selections may be, we are proud of each and every applicant and their understanding that how a person treats others is their most impactful and enduring legacy.

Below is the full list of Sportsmanship Scholarship candidates and the area high school they attend. Our communities are raising and nurturing good kids and we all should know and celebrate who they are.

Scholarship winners will be announced on June 1. In the meantime, have a look at the list below. Some kids you may know, others you may not. Either way, take comfort in knowing there are good kids doing good…where we live.
